Yes, Michael is now selling Avon! I think he'll do pretty well too. Avon has changed so much over the last decade. First of all, they have a much broader range of products. They're not just makeup anymore! Also, they've put more focus on their leadership (read: pyramid) program, which kind of sucks for now, but could be a good thing in the near future. There are several larger towns around here that don't have a leadership representative.

Ugh, Bush is on TV trying to make jokes. I don't like it when he tries to be funny...it mainly just pisses me off more. Oh well, only two more years. Maybe we can make it that far!

More news: the recruiting job Michael applied for a few months ago is open again. The guy who got it moved somewhere else so he could get bigger promotions, so we're getting Michael's packet ready again for that. It'll be tough for a few months if he gets it because he'll have to go to school, but it will all be worth it if only for the insurance and retirement!

I substituted Friday for 6th and 7th graders and the first two classes were pretty much my definition of hell. No, it really wasn't that bad, but 6th and 7th grade boys are eville! The last class was all girls, which was a marked improvement! I suppose I could teach if there were an all girls' school around here. HAHA! Seriously though, if it came to teaching, I would want to teach gifted and talented or AP classes. Usually (USUALLY!) the GT kids are good.

Also, if Michael gets the job, and if we can find a house and sell our others, I'm thinking about going back to get my cosmetology license. If I could do just the people Heather turns down because she's too busy or not there, I'd be making twice the money if not more than what I'm making now. Something to think about.

So I'm quitting smoking. I'm trying cold turkey, but I may be trying the nicotine gum since it's such a low dosage. I read somewhere that there are certain times of the month which (that?) are easier for women to quit. I'm thinking it's the week after your period and not the week before...ugh this is hard. I am trying though, that's the main thing, and so is Michael. I think it's easier if you have a buddy to do it with.

I just got outbid on ebay for a really cute coat for Jesi. I'm going to search again and see what I can find. I want to get her one of those puffy down or poly filled coats. Not a long one, just hip length. Off to ebay!

So we had our Christmas open house at work today, and it went okay, not many people showed up because the Chamber didn't advertise very well, but I sold a little bit of stuff here and there. I wore this sweater I bought last year, it's red, off the shoulder (when it wants to be, I have to fight with it most of the time) and it's 60% Nylon, 30% Angora rabbit hair, 10% wool. Now I don't know which one was making me itch, I'm pretty sure it was the wool but usually I can wear something with that little bit of wool and not be itchy, so maybe it was the rabbit hair...also, the rabbit hair comes off...it's not a fuzzy fuzzy sweater, but the rabbit hair sheds out of the knitted part and it's just awful, I feel like I may cough up a hairball at any moment! I didn't realize it had that in it when I bought it, won't make that mistake again! So I was wearing black slacks with it and there was red hair all over my pants. To sum up, the sweater looks good, it is just not practical at all.

In the name of Jesus Christ, this woman is insane...I didn't watch the show, I almost did but changed the channel at the last minute, man I wish I'd have watched it to see what got her so riled up! There is just absolutely nothing short of some other woman sleeping with my husband or beating my children or putting them in harm's way, that could happen on Trading Spouses for me to get so mad...anyone know what brought her to this point?

Try it, I swear to God it's tough. My highest score was 10,000-something but only because once it kept giving me the same actress/movie combo over and over again for one round so I got all the bonus points.

Okay I use this one most, but now I'm also a member at blogger/blogspot and myspace...and I'm sure there are more out there that I signed up for at one point and don't remember, but it's just silly, so I'm going to do posts at all of them when I post at one, you know, use the old copy/paste feature (thank the Lord for that btw, I've been editing the web page and I wouldn't ever change a thing if it weren't for that!) So here's my post:

Soooo, teh hubby, Michael, is in New Orleans again, or at least he's almost there by now. He got there directly after (or as close to directly after as our government can achieve) Hurricane Katrina, worked downtown for a few days (he's a medic in the national guard) then they made their way to a makeshift base in Metarie. He brought a woman back when she lost pulse after receiving an I.V., so I think that makes it all the more worthwhile...anyway he was there for a little over three weeks, got to come home for some R&R for about 10 days, and headed back today via bus. Rumor is they will be working four weeks on, one week off...I don't like it and I'm tired of the Army not knowing their ass from a hole in the ground as far as scheduling and that type stuff goes, but I'd much rather he be there than in Iraq. He is now doing what the National Guard was made to do, can't argue with that.

So when he was home on pass, we took a little mini vaca to Tunica. We stayed and played at both the Grand Casino and Hotel and Sam's Town. The Grand Veranda Hotel is the one we stayed at there, and it has really gone downhill...either that or they just need a whole new janitorial staff! Sam's Town wasn't bad. I really really wanted to stay at the Horseshoe Hotel but there was some stupid Tennessee Energy convention going on, plus all the evacuees, and they didn't have a room available :-( Their beds are so amazingly soft for hotel beds, it's just the best hotel in Tunica in my opinion.

So we went to each and every casino during our 4 day 3 night stay and got player's cards. We both sat down at a new game for us called Pai Gow Poker (site has detailed description of the game, plus a link to play for free, i.e. no downloads required). It is so fun!! The odds are pretty good, plus there's a handy dandy sucker bet that I just love! It was the first card game besides blackjack that I've ever played at a casino. Now at our dining room table growing up, in between my brother's two-a-day football practices at the end of summer, against all the sexy football players crowded into our house because my mom fed them all, that's a different story...I kicked a little jock ass at some acey-deucey, bullshit, etc. *lol*

For anyone within a day's drive of Tunica, I would recommend it for a weekend/long weekend getaway. Several of the hotels have nice spas, there is outlet shopping, and it's only 15 miles from Memphis! Not to mention all the fun fun gambling! I think it's my favorite place right now...except I don't really have all that much to compare it to right now.

It was just really nice for me and Michael to get away for a while and not have to go a'visiting everyone in south Arkansas while he was home. That's not to say we didn't visit everyone when we got home...well almost everyone but we'll get around to that next time he gets some R&R.

This story kind of pisses me off..."There's clearly been a breakdown when it comes to responding to this disaster. I don't know if it's a lack of leadership or resources," Durbin said.
They definitely should blame the chain of command for that, I don't think there was a lack of resources. People had stuff stacking up just waiting to be sent down there. I don't understand why the guard couldn't get any of that.

Michael didn't even get called up until Wednesday, left the next morning for NORTH ARKANSAS to get vehicles, then waited about 12 hours in south arkansas for more supplies and troops until they could finally head down to New Orleans. There are still tons of troops in Arkansas who have not been activated...I can understand trying to keep the guys in college where they are since they were gone to Iraq for a year, and trained for a semester before that, but then again, they did sign up for this. This is what the guard was made to do, they should be there evacuating, pulling security duty, and helping repair the damage.

Michael is in New Orleans as of early Friday morning (I think, the days have been running together on me though) and yesterday he saved a life. A couple of air force guys came and got him (he's a medic in the national guard) from his post to help. They went to a house to evacuate this elderly woman and she was severely dehydrated (one of the reasons they grabbed him, because he actually had I.V. fluid in his med bag) so he started the I.V. on the first stick cuz he's good like that, but about two minutes in the woman started to seize and they lost pulse and had to start CPR. They got her out of there and into a helicoptor, then hopefully to a hospital somewhere :-( though the way the whole process is playing out, she may have ended up at the fucking airport on the floor...

That's all I'm gonna say about that because I can't change anything by bitching, and I really don't know the extent of road damage or anything, like as far as what they could get in there and what they couldn't...Anyway, I'm just proud of Michael. He's doing his job and it's actually the job the National Guard was made to do. I would much rather he be there than in Iraq.

My piggy is ugly but here's what it says about me:

You drew the pig:

Toward the middle, you are a realist.
Facing left, you believe in tradition, are friendly, and remember dates (birthdays, etc.)
With 4 legs showing, they are secure, stubborn, and stick to their ideals.
The size of the ears indicates how good a listener you are.
The bigger the better. You drew medium sized ears, you are a good listener

The length of the tail indicates the quality of your sex life.
And again more is better! You drew medium sized tail

So I was in this karaoke contest saturday night. I sang Blue Bayou by Linda Ronstadt. And I think it was the best I've ever sung it. Anyway there were four other people in the contest and this one girl brought her whole family with her, and friends...I was there by myself because all my friends live too far for me to ask them to come, and Michael was working and didn't get there till after the contest. Anyway it was audience vote (with actual ballots, not applause) and she won, which I figured but it still sucks because I was better than she was and I'm not being egotistical, many people told me I should've won, even some of the other contestants! So anyway, I'll try again. This man "Duck" said he'd pay my entry fee. I'll just have to make sure I get as many people there as possible!

Wish I could find a contest that was actually judged by a non-biased person instead of by how many friends you bring with you!

wow it's been a long time! I suck at teh updating...this summer is freaking HOT, as I predicted because of the weak winter we had, with hardly any cooling rains. I think most counties are under a burn ban. It's HOT!!! When it does rain it's like *sprinkle sprinkle* then the sun comes out again and dries it all up! WAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!! I would like a really good storm, not a scary one just a good steady rain with dark clouds, maybe some thunder. I like the rain...just not the bad scary storms. I've been reading quite a bit this summer, just chick lit really but I enjoy it...also, spending time with the hubby instead of being on here all the time, so that's good too :-) I'm out, peace!

figured I'd update this thing since I haven't in a while. today I went to an award ceremony for Jesi. she's in brownie girl scouts and they were doing all the yearly cookie awards. she got a few but next year we will sell the most cookies out of everyone!!!!! it really sucked cuz all the troop leader's daughters won the most cookie prizes...I think they sit around and wait till all the orders are in and then they sell how many ever they need to get more than everyone else. YEAH! CHEATERS!!

In other news we're getting ready for a festival coming up this weekend. I shall sell my fringed flip flops again...and with the money we make, we will buy an old ford bread truck that's been converted to a camper. It is so COOL!! I've tried to find any references to them on teh interweb but the only thing I can find is this picture on some surfer's page where the guy converted one to a surf shop on wheels. we think it's a '53. anyway I want it!! and I want this house we found out will be for sale soon! it's so freakin' cool too! This guy built a lot of it from stuff he salvaged from all over the place! pipe dreams at the moment though, at least till we find out how much he wants for the place.

I'm so excited!!!! But also a little frazzled by other emotions like worry and fear of change. My stomach is in knots! And I've got so much to do. I didn't realize how unready I was!!! Michael just called, he's still in Kuwait...this time thing has me all screwed up. He's 9 hours ahead, so he's actually kind of travelling back in time. So strange. Yep, Michael will be home in a few short days!! Well, of course they won't be short because I'm anticipating it. They'll be the longest days of my life...and by home I mean in the states, but if he's there and I'm there, that makes it home! I can't believe it's finally here...almost! I bought a new outfit today, got off pretty cheap too! And the other day I booked us a room on base! So at the very most that means we'll get to sleep together at night, and at the very least it means I won't have to drive on and off base so much! I'll be finishing up the book I'm currently reading Olivia Joules and the Overactive Imagination by Helen Fielding, and grabbing a few for the road at my local library. Man I forgot how cool it is to have a library card! I've read 3 books in the past few weeks! Much cheaper than buying them all the time! Anyway, I'll take some reading materials, and some other activities to fill the time because I know I won't get to see him all the time. But it's worth it whether I get to spend 3 minutes or 3 days with him!! Well that's about it, I was just excited and felt like updating for a change! Peace.
